The LCSD#1 Art Standards Referenced Curriculum is a  K – 12 Vertically Aligned Curriculum of Learning Events that assists art educators in identifying important outcomes of learning, determining acceptable evidence of accomplishment and designing the best path for achieving desired results. The LCSD#1 Art Curriculum outlines the educational foundations for student success in the Visual Arts; through focus on artistic processes, artistic literacy, enduring understandings, essential questions and portfolio based assessments.

Each Quarter is focused on a theme of Learning Events:

Quarter 1 - Artist as Explorer

Quarter 2 – Artist as Collaborator

Quarter 3 – Artist as Story Teller

Quarter 4 – Artist as Observer

The Learning events progress across grades and levels to create a sequential, standards based approach to arts education. Learning Targets, Proficiency Scales, and Quarterly Assessments with Proficiency Rubrics are written for each grade level; based on Prioritized National Core Art Standards (Visual Arts) and Wyoming State Standards. These standards and their benchmarks are grouped together in the following categories:

Responding – Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning.

Connecting – Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context.

Creating – Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work.

Presenting – Interpreting and sharing artistic work.
