I can do this by:

- Developing a research approach based on organizers, such as a data tree;

- Integrating quality sources and research strategies into draft material;

- Maintaining MLA format (or equivalent) and academic language throughout drafting;

- Producing an evaluative collection of sources for future revision and drafting.

Introduction

This week dives into the drafting process, the stage of production that, in education, is among the most important and the site of greatest energies. Students must practice our course mantras, especially self-efficacy, self-reliance, and resiliency to not fall into old traps of limited Production and partial Participation. The research component includes essential skills that demonstrate secondary proficiencies, and this is where it happens!

To-Do:

Writing Process: Practice the metacognitive reflection on skills and areas for growth in professional production by committing to the drafting process.

Research: The most valued, or at least most recognizable, academic activity with impacts beyond the classroom. Continue developing the skills of research in combination with the stylistic skills of Informative and Argument.

Academic Language: In addition to MLA form (or equivalent) and proper English grammar and conventions, the tone of an academic product is the greatest identifier of ethos and authenticity. Practice this focused, but not necessarily dull nor impersonal, style of speech for benefit beyond the gradebook.
