AP English Literature and Composition Curriculum

Description:

AP English Literature and Composition course engages students in the careful reading and critical analysis of poetry and prose literature. Students will read literature addressing mature content and themes aligned with concepts tested on the AP exam. Through the close reading of selected texts, students deepen their understanding of the ways writers use language to provide meaning. As they read, students consider a work’s structure, style, and themes, as well as such smaller-scale elements as the use of figurative language, imagery, symbolism and tone. College credit may be available upon successfully meeting AP examination scoring requirements. English Language Arts proficiency may be earned through this course.
